TEQIP
The Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of Government of India (TEQIP), has been conceived in
pursuance with NPE-1986 (as revised in 1992). The Programme aims to upscale and support ongoing efforts of GOI
to improve quality of technical education and enhance existing capacities of the institutions to become dynamic,
demand-driven, quality conscious, efficient and forward looking, responsive to rapid economic and technological
developments occurring both at national and international levels.
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar NIT Jalandhar was one of the 127 institutions in India, which were supported in phase 1 of TEQIP
in the year 2004. The project started on March 19th, 2004, provided an impetus to improve the infrastructure of the
institute and the institute procured 70 items during the project period. The faculty members got an opportunity to
interact with the universities abroad and share their research findings through participation in different conferences
and courses. During the project period, 41 foreign visits by the faculty were financed besides 184 visits within the
country. Compendium 2021
TEQIP phase II, emphasized on strengthening Institutions to scale-up postgraduate education and demand-driven
Research & Development and Innovation, sanctioned in September 2012 provided a grant of Rs 8.50 Crores. During
this period the institute organized 64 courses in different areas of engineering and technology. 36 international visits 95
and 125 national visits were also supported.
After the successful implementation of first two phases, the institute was sanctioned with third phase of TEQIP in
August 2017 for a duration of 03 years. TEQIP - III is fully integrated with the Twelfth Five-year Plan objectives for
Technical Education as a key component for improving the quality of Engineering Education in existing institutions
with a special consideration for Low Income States and Special Category States (SCS) and support to strengthen
few affiliated technical universities to improve their policy, academic and management practices. The institute is
mentoring the Government Women Polytechnic, Ajmer, Rajasthan.
