ISRO Centre of
Excellence
Space-Technology Incubation Centre (S-TIC)
at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of
Technology Jalandhar was dedicated to the
nation on January 17, 2019 by Dr. K. Sivan,
ISRO Chairman and Secretary-Department of
Space. This S-TIC is second in the line of the
five such incubators to be set up across India.
NITJ and ISRO have collaborated to start S-TIC
at NITJ campus and in this regard MoU was
signed between the two organizations. Under
this MoU, NITJ will provide its facilities;
laboratories and expert faculties and ISRO will
provide its technological expertise and high
end testing and research facilities. ISRO has Compendium 2021
ear-marked Grant-in-Aid of two crores to NITJ
as Seed Money for setting up of the S-TIC.
The setting up of S-TIC is aimed at initiating 119
startups/enterprises in the domain of space
technologies and applications through capacity
building, innovations and research activities in
the States and UTs of the Northern Region viz.
Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh,
Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and
Punjab. At present, faculty and students of
NITJ are working on various challenges jointly
with scientists from various ISRO centers viz.
HSFC, IISU, IPRC, LPSC, MCF, NRSC, PRL,
SAC, SCL, URSC, VSSC, CBPO – ISRO HQ
