Abstract

Have you ever seen a person who tried to lose weight, what these sort of people do, they went here and there, do research, seek suggestions, join a gym, hire a trainer or maintain a strong diet. But here in this article, you don't have to do anything, it encompasses all the required concepts plus comparisons among "E-learning and Chalk-n- board learning" with real-life examples. Today's learning is not a far-fetched idea in fact it has come more closer, won't believe it? Give a shot to this article.

E-learning v/s Chalk-n-board Learning

We all have studied "Tenses" in our classes. It comprises of Past, Present, and Future along with its subparts. Let us use them from a perspective point of view. In the "Past", only Chalk-n-board learning was within easy reach. Some use them to create history or very few of them uses as for eating purposes. Some use them for creating pictures/drawing for fun, while others use them to create immortal designs. Some use them to explain theories while others use them to put the date/Number of present/absent students.

Now, let's jump on to 20th Century. In "Present" time, we are dealing with both "E-learning" and "Chalk-n-board learning". To elucidate my point of view, let me give you a real-life illustration. When I was in school, there was only "Green Board" accessible, "although little up-gradation from Blackboard!!". We used to comprehend everything from maths to science on that board only. "The most interesting part is", we were having E-Lab period once a week, and in that class, our teachers summoned us to E-Class.

That was the rudimentary time, we get to know about E-learning. Everything was one search away. Read whatever we want in a matter of seconds. Learned whatever you want etc. Then after 30 minutes, we all have to go to our old but G(old) previous classes. We zealously wait for that period other than the games period (although this was an exceptional period). That was about of 2011-2014 time frame. Then by and by we get to know about Byju's, the online learning {E-learning} platform.

However, "E-learning" was first coined in February 2009, when India launched a National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that provided internet connectivity to almost 20 thousand colleges and other educational institutes. Due to the pandemic, which hit us in 2020, all have to transpose on "E-leaning" platforms or teaching methods. Which gave hype to the "Zoom" meeting app, which helped "E-learning" to move one more step ahead of "Chalk-n-board learning" or we can say it served as "Blessing in disguise" for "E-learning".

As saying goes, "Honesty is the best policy", but in this day and age, the comparison seems to be the "Best policy". Now, we will compare both learning methods and discuss their pros and cons. See, I am not here to say that one thing is preferable to another and vice versa. Nevertheless, we all have to understand that there are, the thing so-called "Properties", which define the specificity, for example of metals/non-metals "hypothetically speaking". So, here comes the crunch.

For as easy as falling off a log writing/reading, let's contemplate "E-learning" as "Alpha", and "Chalk-n-board learning" as "Beta".

Overcomes limitation: Board comes in various sizes like 3x2, 4x2, and even 18x4 feet. But "Alpha" has no limitations. It wholly depends upon power, bandwidth, scrolling methods.

Left or right: As another saying goes, "when nothing goes right, turn left". Here right = "Beta", and left = "Alpha". In this pandemic time, "Beta" learning was beyond our reach but "Alpha" comes as the "cloud containing the silver lining".

More pursuing: According to the research, "Beta" provides much strong and enthusiastic environment for learning and targeting aims/goals. While "Alpha" merely gives the classroom feeling, still lacking in it.

Long haul:In the classrooms where we use "Beta" methods, proffer long-lasting impressions on our brains, as because there we have to concentrate, we have to stay focused as “sometimes, the teacher rubs the board so quickly”. While on the other side of the coin, where "Alpha" lies, students are still coping with this elusive method.

Backup:In today's time, this term is as crucial as RBI's "Monetary Policy", where students have to arrange proper notes, copies, and registers in "Beta" classes. Well, "Alpha" is far enough ahead of this chaos. The software designing companies have made the "Alpha" method more engaging and hustle-free either in terms of backup or in the learning experience.

Time and cost saving:For "Beta" classes, we have to present physically means we have to go there for classes but that is not the situation in "Alpha" classes. Let me give you one more real-life experience. One of my friends named "Bob” goes to coaching classes daily. He used to travel almost 2 hours for one side as well as for other side means 4 hours in a day, which costs him around Rs. 700 per week. But as soon as he gets to know about "Alpha" methods, his whole lot aura has changed, where he had to spend Rs. 15000 for fees plus Rs. 700 per week for traveling expenses for 6 months. He paid only Rs. 2000 for 6 months course and studying the same concept more efficiently.

Conclusion

In long and short, "E-learning" and "Chalk-n- board learning" are the variables of those equations, which have infinitely many solutions or we can say infinite many "Pros" and "Cons". But in the end, the moral of the story is, "E-leaning" was far streets ahead than "Chalk-n-board learning", due to many reasons mentioned above. The only way we can make it more progressing is by applying "E-learning" techniques in schools, colleges, or various educational institutes. We just have to increase the awareness to make the whole education plus learning world more hustle-free.
