In an effort to help people of the Nation in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Lalit Kumar Awasthi, Director, National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NITJ) appealed to all faculty, staff and students of the Institute to contribute to the country in the time of need. Under his able leadership, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Sah, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, NITJ has designed and developed a SINGLE PIECE FULL BODY PPE COVER (Marshall).

Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi, Director, and Prof. S. K. Sinha, Dean (Research and Consultancy) NITJ, congratulated Dr. Mahesh for his contribution towards fighting against COVID-19 like pandemic situations.

The designed PPE is single piece full body cover from head to toes with proper ventilation without direct exposure to viral particles suspended in environment (air, water, soil). The mask and screen are pre-installed as the part of cover. The PPE is chained from back side while the front side which is exposed mainly to infected person is completely covered. For proper ventilation, pores are kept at suitable places. The lower side of cover which goes up to toes is installed with anti-slip soles to provide friction while walking or running. Patent has been filed and the inventor with possible collaboration is working on improving the quality of design and product for wider applications. The material is washable and can be sterilized with standard methods before packaging and application. It takes lesser time and effort to wear and to respond on quick notice. Presently, the developed cover is with low manufacturing cost (500/-) for common application (Level-1) and can be replaced with standard materials for specific applications (Level 2-4).
