For Internal Users only

Major Specifications:
  1. Sample testing conforms to IS: 10050.
  2. Drive Unit: Motorized base-mounted unit capable of operating 2 or 4 drums at once.
  3. Rotation Speed: Approximately 20 RPM.
  4. Drum Dimensions: 140 mm diameter × 100 mm unobstructed length.
  5. Drum Mesh: 2.00 mm wire mesh with a solid fixed base (stainless steel or brass)
Research Potential:
  1. It is a critical rock testing instrument used to measure the degradation and weathering resistance of weak/soft rocks (such as shales and mudstones).
  2. It determines the Slake Durability Index (Id) by subjecting rock samples to controlled wet/dry cycles in a rotating mesh drum.
  3. Data from the apparatus can be used to build models that predict the long-term deterioration rates of rocks in varying environments.
